Welcoming a cat into your home is a big commitment, and we believe every adoption should begin with confidence, understanding, and a little room to grow.
Our Foster to Adopt Program was created to give both cats and their potential adopters the time and space they need to discover whether they’re the right match for one another. We understand that adopting a pet is a life-changing decision, and we want to give people the opportunity to experience what life together might look like before making a lifelong commitment.
This program is also designed with the cats in mind. New environments can be overwhelming, and many cats need time to feel safe, settle into a routine, and let their true personalities shine. The cat you meet on day one may be very different from the cat who eventually curls up beside you, greets you at the door, or claims your favourite spot on the couch.
Through foster to adopt, we allow these relationships to develop naturally, without rushing the process. It gives adopters the opportunity to learn about a cat’s personality, needs, and habits while giving the cat a chance to adjust to their potential forever home.
Our goal is simple: to create lasting matches that are right for both the cat and the person welcoming them home. Because finding the right home isn't about how quickly two lives come together; it's about giving them the time they need to grow together.
1. Apply to foster to adopt
You can find the form below!
2. Let's get to know you
We'll arrange a phone call to learn more about your lifestyle, home environment, preferences, and what you're looking for in a feline companion.
3. Find your match
Our team will meet to select a cat we believe could be a great fit for you. We'll notify you of the proposed match, and you'll have the opportunity to decide whether you'd like to move forward. You're never obligated to accept a match you're not comfortable with. Ultimately, the decision is yours.
4. Welcome your foster home
Once your match is confirmed we'll coordinate their placement. You'll provide a loving temporary home while getting to know one another.
5. Let the relationship grow
We'll check in with you regularly and provide support along the way. Take the time you need to understand your cat's personality and determine whether you're the right fit for each other.
6. Make it official
If you fall in love and know you've found your companion, you can move forward with adoption at any time! Simply contact the program facilitator and complete an adoption application through our website.
And if it turns out not to be the right match? That's okay, too. We'll work with you to determine the next steps and ensure your foster cat is supported.
What cats are eligible for the program?
The eligible cats are listed under the Foster to Adopt Program tab on the website.
How are matches made?
We'll meet with you virtually to learn about what you're looking for in a cat, your lifestyle, and the kind of companion who would best suit your home.
Our team will then work together to select a potential match based on the information you've shared. Once we've identified a cat, we'll notify you so you can decide whether you'd like to proceed.
We want you to feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. We will never pressure you into a match that doesn't feel right. You always have the final say.
What if I don't agree with my match, or it doesn't work out?
That's completely okay! Finding the right fit is what this program is all about. If a proposed match doesn't feel right, simply let us know and we'll go back to the drawing board.
If your foster cat is already in your care and you decide they're not the right fit, we'll arrange for them to return to their previous foster home.
We'll also check in with you regularly and provide support as needed. You're not expected to navigate the process alone.
How long does it take to be matched with a cat?
Matching usually takes a couple of days. Before placement, we also ensure your chosen cat has completed the necessary veterinary care and is cleared for placement, which typically takes about a week. Overall, you can generally expect to welcome your foster cat home within one to two weeks.
Can someone else adopt my foster cat while I'm deciding?
No. Once a cat has been placed with you through our Foster to Adopt Program, they will not be adopted out to someone else while you're determining whether you're the right fit.
We understand that cats often need time to settle in before their true personalities emerge, and that it can take time for you to understand what living together will look like. Our hope is that, within approximately three months, you'll have a good idea of whether your foster cat is the right companion for you.
There's no need to rush the decision. We're here to support you throughout the process.
How soon can I adopt if I fall in love?
Whenever you're ready! If you realize your foster cat is the one for you, you don't have to wait until the end of the program.
Simply notify the program facilitator and complete an adoption application through our website. We'll help guide you through the next steps to make your foster cat an official member of your family.
What's expected of me while I'm fostering?
As a Foster to Adopt participant, you'll be responsible for:
• Providing your foster cat with daily care, a safe environment, and plenty of patience as they settle in.
• Picking up foster supplies every two weeks.
• Staying in communication with the program facilitator and participating in regular check-in.
• Sharing updates and letting us know if you have questions, concerns, or need support.
Our goal is to make sure both you and your foster cat feel supported throughout the experience.
How do I sign up?
Getting started is easy! Please fill out the form below.
The right match is worth the wait.
Whether your foster cat becomes your forever companion or helps you discover what you're looking for in a pet, this program is about giving both of you the time, space, and support to make the right decision.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little time together to find your forever.

Are you looking for a cat who WON'T sit on your keyboard while you work?
Meet Mr. Limpy.
He's waited over 900 days for his person. He's not cuddly, he's not needy, selective.
Are you looking for a quiet roommate who minds his own business?
Are you looking for a companion who appreciates calm over chaos?
Are you looking for that rare, earned trust that actually means something?
Mr. Limpy is your guy.
He came in with a limp (healed now) and a lot of history. He loves bathtubs, watching faucets like it's Netflix, wand toys, and a little catnip to unwind.
He is jumpy, so he needs a calm, adult-only, quiet home. No kids. Other cats are okay, but he doesn't need them.
He won't love you right away. But when he does, it's completely his own.
Are you looking for Mr. Limpy?
Kids: Preferably not
Cats: Fine with or without
Dogs: Fine with or without

Time in care: 225+ days

Crouton is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of perfect. Found as a very pregnant stray, she blossomed the moment she came into care — gentle, sweet, chatty, and obsessed with her people.
She's the ultimate sidekick. She'll sit by you while you work, curl up in your lap when you're lonely, and follow you around like your little shadow. And yes, she often has her tiny tongue blep'd out. Could she be any cuter?!
Crouton does best in a calm home — less is more. She can live with other pets with a slow intro, but would love chill companions or to be your queen.
Cats: Likely with slow intro
Dogs: Yes, with slow intro
Kids: Yes

Time in care - 1 year +
Medical condition - CH (wobbly cat)

Are you looking for a girl with the loudest purrs and the biggest heart?
Meet Haylee 🎀
Are you looking for a biscuit-maker whose motor starts the second you touch her?
Are you looking for a girl who will come RUNNING when you crinkle a tube treat?
Are you looking for a brave, wobbly, heart-nosed panther who never gives up?
Haylee is the last of her litter still waiting. Born in foster care, she was a little wobblier than her siblings — she face-planted in her food, fell over in the litter box, needed help learning to walk.
Now? She zooms, climbs cat trees, uses her box like a pro, and purrs louder than any cat you've ever met.
She has mild CH (cerebellar hypoplasia) — it just makes her wobbly sometimes. It doesn't hurt, it won't get worse, and it doesn't slow her down one bit. She just walks with a cute little hunch and sometimes needs a short-sided box and a soft landing mat.
She lives with lots of cats and big dogs, loves wand toys (low to the ground), lasers, and window watching.
She needs: a little patience, carpet or no stairs, and someone who will let her down when she wants down.
She gives: ALL the love. All of it.
Kids - Good with them
Cats - Good with them
Dogs - Good with them

Are you looking for a loyal, regal, heart-of-gold kind of guy? Meet Mr. Scruff aka Sweet Boy! 👑
Are you looking for a cat who will greet you at the door when you come home? Who will binge-watch mirror time with you, chase toys like a goofball, then curl up perfectly in his cat bed?
Mr. Scruff is your guy.
This handsome, curious gentleman takes a little time to settle in, but once he feels safe, he gives you his whole heart. He is affectionate, playful, and so incredibly sweet.
Mr. Scruff could be your one-and-only love, but he can also live with other respectful pets who give him his space and the occasional sweet nose boop. No puppies or kittens for this distinguished man.
If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and even bigger charm — Mr. Scruff is waiting.

Are you looking for a cat who will binge-watch birds with you?
Meet Mandalay. 830+ days waiting. 💔
Are you looking for a funny, curious shadow who follows you room to room?
Are you looking for a girl who zooms at 3pm, then parks herself by the window for bird TV?
Are you looking for a shiny black panther who will actually LET you brush her while she watches?
Mandalay came in terrified — trapped under stairs with her kittens after a year of surviving outside. Now? She's blossomed.
She loves catnip toys, other cats (she gets brave when she has a cat friend), and being near her people. She'll watch you from a few feet away, always curious, always nearby.
She's still shy and will need patience to fully trust. But she is so ready to be someone's forever companion.
Mandalay's perfect match:
Patient human who lets trust build slowly
A friendly cat companion to show her the ropes
A window with a good view + a brush
Are you looking for Mandalay?

Are you looking for a quiet sidekick, not a lap cat?
Meet Mahogany.
Are you looking for a girl who would rather sit beside you and chirp than be in your lap?
Are you looking for a calm presence who loves being near people?
Are you looking for someone worth waiting for?
Mahogany started out shy — she came in from a colony as a reluctant new mom. She's not aggressive, just careful. She warms up in her own ways, on her own time.
When she trusts you? She blossoms.
She does okay with other cats, LOVES Temptations crunchy treats, and does best on a sensitive / limited ingredient diet.
She doesn't need much — just patience, understanding, and a person who gets that love doesn't have to be loud to be real.
Kids - older only
Cats - Ok with or without
Dogs - No

Time in care - 6 months
Medical conditions - history of UTI & current heart condition
✨ Vet grade c/d urinary & daily heart medication
Are you looking for a guy who loves chin scritches, belly rubs, and picking his OWN toys out of the toy box?
Are you looking for a storyteller who wants to discuss current events with you?
What about a big, hefty boy with the softest heart — literally?
Jason's favourite things are snuggling with his teenage brother, zoomies + laps around the house, playing in his tunnel, and lounging in his chocolate shoppe fort. When the brush comes out, he comes RUNNING.
He's lived with cats and dogs and would love a calm home with gentle kids, cat-savvy dogs and cats to live out his golden years in.
Jason has a big heart in every way. He was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition (mild-moderate SAS + VSD) and takes his liquid medication like a champ at breakfast and bedtime. He also needs his special urinary food (Hills c/d) for life.
He's not picky, he's just perfect. He knows he may have a shorter lifespan, but he has so much love to give for whatever time he has.

Meet Teejay — The Gorgeous Tortoiseshell Queen 🐾❤️
Are you looking for a stunning, sweet, and playful girl who's finally ready to be the baby? Meet Teejay!
This beautiful tortie has officially finished her amazing momma duties, and now it's HER turn to be spoiled. Underneath her shy exterior is a gentle, loving girl who absolutely melts for pets and neck scritches once she feels safe.
Teejay is a social butterfly — she LOVES other cats and is a happy, playful girl who thrives with feline friends. Dogs? No problem! She lives wonderfully with the resident dogs in her foster home.
And her personality? Pure joy. She loves wand toys and laser pointers, but her absolute obsession is her interactive twirl toy under fabric — Foster Mom has to change the batteries daily because Teejay can't get enough! 😹
She's not fussy at all — loves her tube treats, Temptations, and freeze-dried salmon & chicken. Perfect litter box manners, too.
Teejay may be very shy at first, but give her time and patience and you'll see the playful, sweet kitten she never got to be. She's ready to be cherished, spoiled, and loved in her forever home — ideally with a cat tree to call her own.

Medical conditions: Junior (anxiety meds)
✨ Junior is currently taking gabapentin daily due to my anxiety disorder. Iykyk. This is about $75 for 50 quantity ✨
If you’ve ever dreamed of living with a polite little duo who happens to look like they are always dressed for a formal event, these two might be your perfect match.
Junior, truly looks like he’s wearing a tiny black-and-white tuxedo suit. With his large, plush body and soft fur, he feels just like hugging a giant teddy bear. At one point he weighed about 30 pounds, but he has successfully slimmed down and is continuing his healthy journey while still keeping that adorable, huggable “big teddy bear” vibe.
His personality is what makes him really special. He is incredibly gentle, tolerant, and sweet—the kind of cat who will happily let you pet him, cuddle him, or squish him like a plush toy. Nothing bothers this chill gentleman. He loves making biscuits with his paws when he’s happy, lounging on his back like a relaxed old man watching the world go by and being close to his humans.
Missy Jean is a beautiful little cow cat who is incredibly sweet, gentle, and absolutely adorable, shaped a little bit like a fluffy gourd and impossible not to fall in love with.
She absolutely adores being brushed and will reward her groomer with surprisingly loud, enthusiastic purrs. L
Though Missy Jean is a shy girl who prefers to observe before joining in, she has one very special relationship already: her look-alike foster brother, Junior. They came from the same household, 2 years ago and once reunited, were their happiness!
The two of them could almost be copy-and-pasted from the same template. Wherever Junior goes, Missy Jean is usually not far behind. She follows him from room to room and often seeks comfort by touching her head or body against him. Their bond is incredibly sweet to watch.
Both excellent litter box manners and easygoing personality that makes them a joy to live with. Whether you’re working, watching TV, or just relaxing, they will be the perfect laid-back companions nearby.
Kids: yes
Cats: preference they would be the only 2 cats in household, but may do okay with one other calm cat.
Dogs: may be ok with a calm dog but too much energy can stress Junior out.

Are you looking for a handsome guy who won't be a stage-five clinger?
Are you looking for independence with pretty green eyes?
Are you looking for a food-motivated roommate who thinks your hand is best when it has snacks?
Are you looking for those little victories that mean EVERYTHING?
Sand came from a cat colony, so humans are still new to him. He prefers to admire you from a distance for now — no touching yet. But never a hiss, bite, or scratch. Just a shy guy figuring out that people can be trusted.
His foster hack? FOOD. He'll come right up and take it from your hand. His stomach is doing the socializing for him. 😻
He loves other cats, enjoys his alone time, and is 10/10 in the litter box.
He needs: A patient person who lets him set the pace.
He gives: The most rewarding journey — earning the trust of a silky grey boy with the coolest markings.
Cats: Yes!
Dogs: Likely ok
Kids: Likely ok
